I, Gregory Weber, maintain this INFO-I400 course web site as part of my “personal home pages” on Indiana University’s Pages web hosting service.
All web servers log web page requests; however, I have no access to the server’s logs.
This site no longer uses Google Analytics or StatCounter.
When I offered this course in 2012, I thought it was a good idea to use those services to collect and analyze web traffic data, so that I might better understand how visitors were using my site. Even then, I elected for Google not to share data with other Google products such as Google AdSense and AdWords and not to share data with Google and others for “benchmarking.” But who knows what they did?
With increased awareness of privacy issues and knowledge of Google’s egregious privacy intrusions and and heavy-handed censorship (let people think for themselves, please!), I have stopped using these services.
To the best of my knowledge, this class site (https://gdweber.pages.iu.edu/info/i400/) does not set or use any cookies.
